One major item that came out of the meeting last night concerns re-furbishing the Zone at CP. At the moment, we have a small core group of people interested in digging on this project. If you are interested in helping, talk to me, Merritt, Brad Newby, Tubby, Bragge, etc. You all know the local cast of characters, one of them will know what's happening at any given time. Anyone can pm me here for more information.
Thanks so much guys! I'm so happy we're going to make this happen!

idea: Pump track at the open field next to the jail house, also a small freeride area, very small obstacles for beginner, so we can do clinics., small teeter tooters, skinies, small drops, and technical stuff.
the build days at CP; we are working on a schedule right now, call Re:cycles (336)370 9099 or check the DH/freeride section of the forum.
the crew that will be working on it that I know are: Wheeliemrt, Bullitman, skyboss, stampers?, hotrodmarlin, stinky6er, redspoint. and there is more people that are not in this forum that will be helping getting things done in CP.

I am glad to help out. I wanted to talk to some of you all after the meeting last night but I had to leave when it was over. Definitely would like to see a pump track, I think someone at the meeting mentioned a spot near safety town? Also thought I might throw out the idea of a dual slalom track at the zone, just some tables and berms, pretty simple. I think it would be a great way to get a little GSO Dual Slalom race series going on. Any takers?

nice suggestion, we will love to have a DS course, the zone can be converted to it, or we can use the open field next to the jailhouse, there is plenty of room there for a long DS course that can start by the road and go down into the lower area next to the MTB trail. a pumptrack at the top and some clinic level features in the same field.
A Dual Slalom race series like the ones at hobby park in WS would be awesome.
greengeer, stop by the shop any time, ask for Merritt or Braggi, we will be organizing most of the work at the zone.

been working on this design for years now finally finished
just a quick drawing, the zone can stay as a big kinda DJ area, and the "jailhouse skills freeride clinic" area will be added, as a complete fresh build new designed skills park in the nation bam! there it is, let's make it happen
here more ideas bam!
bam!
bam!
this is a huge DS course, we can build something like the zone with twin lines, safe jumps so everyone can ride them. the video is to have a idea of what a DS course looks like

Awesome, just remember we're working on city property and that entails playing the "political game" with P&R, which means before any digging occurs, we have to have approval from park officials. There are certain parameters to follow, and I know, it sucks, but keep your eye on the prize and it will happen!
On the DS course, that's tricky. But the pump track is, I think, very doable. If we can do a good job with the Zone, impress the park officials with a professional effort and design, that will go a long way towards the reality of a pump track. DS course, I'm not so sure about, Bragge. Let's tackle one thing at a time and see where we are at the end.

Not to put a downer on this, but don't they do annual battlefield reenactments on the open area next to the jail house? Stuff does take place up there, though not often. In the past those reenactments have lasted a couple weekends.
