Our annual meeting is now scheduled for Feb. 3, Wednesday. 6:00 for dinner, 7:00 for meeting on the third floor. Our use of the loft has been graciously donated once again by our friends at Natty's, so remember to show your appreciation by utilizing the restaurant and bar facilities as much as possible. This space usually rents for $300 so it's a very nice gesture on their part!
In the meantime, please think of any issues, ideas, thoughts you might have for the coming year. We have a lot of new riders coming along and I'm sure there are some fresh ideas out there. For those who are new to the area and the sport, this is a great time to meet other people just like yourself and find others to ride with.
See you all soon!

Thanks for the post MM.
And I take it that this is a different meeting than the one this coming Monday? Correct?

yes, Monday is the Velo/GFTS joint meeting. The 3rd is a GFTS specific, but Velo fans are welcome too!

Come on out and join the GFTS if you haven't. Your $20 membership dues goes to buying wood, supplies (nails, joist hangers, concrete, etc..) and tools for trail improvements. Plus, your membership voice becomes part of the future of mountain biking in the Triad area, particularly the trails in Greensboro.
We have a good thing going with the Trails Division in Greensboro. Mike Simpson, City of Greensboro Trails Director, has been a key part of that. The relationship established in years past, initiated by Mark Gatehouse aka SingleTrackMind and a few others, has been instrumental in us having the trails that we have today.
New trails are planned and new trail re-routes are also planned. The mountain biking future in Greensboro looks bright and full.
So, if you have thought of joining but never have, or, if you simply just stood silently by and wondered how it all gets done, why not jump in and become part of the group that does so much for off-road biking in this area. You just may have the idea that is the beginning of a whole new trail, trail feature, or re-route.
See you on the third of February.

i would like to show my support and join, but i am unable to attend the meeting.
how or who should i send my dues to?
also, 1 idea i have is educate the guilford county sherrifs department about the trail system.
it seems most of our trails are in the city limits and the GPD is aware of the trails, but BH is outside the city, and after a night ride we were kinda hounded by the guilford county sherrifs dept.
they knew nothing of the trail systems and for sure did not want to believe we were out there riding.
i beleive the quote question was "you didn't leave any dead bodies out there did you?"

Wasn't so funny when we noticed one of the officers had her hand on her taser. I got my hands out of my pockets real quick!
Edit. Look forward to seeing you all on monday.

I'd like to join and help out more. Now that I am completely hooked on riding and enjoy and appreciate the local trails very much, I need to volunteer.
I'm a little apprehensive as I don't know many people and I don't ride a high dollar bike. Much like my boating days, the guys in the Bayliner's were frowned upon (not by me). I def ride a Bayliner!
But, I would like to bring my wife and have a nice dinner at Natty's, and I would like to contribute some $$'s by joining and paying my dues.
My wife and I (and our lab) hiked Blue Heron today and I took my shovel and axe. We cleared a ton of limbs/debris from the trail and I cut one small drainage path for a low spot. The trail was in great shape, much to my surprise (we didn't go too far in, though). Next time I'll bring my rake.
I've been wanting to do this for awhile now, but was afraid to jump in since I am new to all this. But, I think we all need to get involved.
